Jim Spencer - Executive Director
Jim Spencer has served as SSF Executive Director since July 1, 2005. He is a 1986 graduate of Sterling High School. After serving in the United States Army, Jim attended Sauk Vallley Community College and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he earned a bachelors degree in Broadcast Communications in 1994. He worked in local radio for five years, including four as Sports Director at WSDR in Sterling. He served one year as Director of Broadcasting/Public Relations for the Quad City Thunder of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) before returning to Sterling in 2000 to work as a Marketing Specialist at CGH Medical Center. In addition to his duties with the Foundation, Jim also serves as Director of Broadcasting/Advertising for the Sterling Athletic Booster Club. Through that position, Jim is known as the "Voice of the Golden Warriors," as he provides radio play-by-play for 50+ SHS football and basketbal games every year. Jim lives in Sterling with his wife Michelle (Mallicoat '89) and daughter Rachel.

Laura Carbaugh - Administrative Assistant
Laura started with the Foundation is June 2009. She is a 1980 graduate of Sterling High School. Her primary responsibilities center around assisting with day-to-day Foundation operations. She will oversee and assist Blue & Gold staff with rearch and writing of articles and work closely with alumni and donors. Laura and her husband Kerry ('77) reside in Sterling, and have three children who have all graduated from SHS - Taylor ('02), Casey ('04) and Devon ('07). |

Donna
Dodson - Bookkeeper
Donna
Dodson has served as the Sterling Schools Foundation bookkeeper
since May of 1999. A graduate of Sauk Valley Community College,
Donna has her Associate of Science degree in Business. She attended
Mount Vernon Township High School prior to Sauk. As bookkeeper,
her duties include depositing funds, preparing financial records,
working with the investment committee, and attending SSF board of
directors meetings.

Tim
Schlegel - Director of Theatre
Tim
Schlegel was raised in the area, having attended high school in
Morrison. A 1983 graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.
with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Tim went on to be a theatre manager
in Juneau, AK. He took the position of SHS Centennial Auditorium
Performance Coordinator after moving back to Morrison with his wife
Sarah and son Brad. He has served in that position since 1998. His
responsibilities range from booking and scheduling performances
to directing the school musicals. |
